Yahoo is beginning to roll out the latest version of its email service with what appears to be a faster, sleeker interface. Charlene Li at Forrester has a positive review with screen shots that I think look pretty darn good. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone... especially after Yahoo acquired Oddpost for close to $30M more than a year ago. Additionally, with Google moving a mile a minute these days, Yahoo and Microsoft will continue to do what it takes to keep up.
I blogged my thoughts a few months ago about how I think Yahoo, Google and some of the other Internet giants affect the email hosting market—especially as they continue to advance their product offerings. With regards to the new Yahoo mail interface, I'll blog my thoughts once someone is kind enough to send me an invitation so I can try it out. :-)
